Luca Sartoni is not a new name in the European WordPress community. Working as a Growth Engineer at Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com and the upcoming .blog domains, he actively contributes to WordPress by dedicating himself to the community, co-organizing a local meetup in Vienna, WordCamp Europe, and speaking at WordCamps around the world. Please, give a warm welcome to Luca who will talk about the “Growth Methodologies in a Distributed Environment“.
Luca was born and raised in Italy, but right after dropping off university in 2001 he started traveling the world. He lived in New Zealand for a while and since 2010 he has been living in Vienna.
What’s your WordPress connection, how you started with WordPress?
In 2005 I needed to publish news on my website and I migrated from Typo3 to WordPress. I never looked back. After a few years I attended my first WordCamp in Milan, met Matt Mullenweg and always dreamed to join Automattic. In 2014 my dream came true and I’m happy to serve the company, and the WordPress community, in any way I can.
The Talk and the Workshop
Luca will be speaking on Saturday, and will hold a workshop on our pre-conference day (it is now our tradition to have the day before open for everyone, nevertheless they are coming to WordCamp or not, and to have workshops then).
Your talk has a pretty interesting title. What will you talk about?
I will disclose how we were able to implement strict testing protocols in a chaotic distributed environment like Automattic. I will show how basic principles apply to companies of any size, at different level of complexity.
You will also hold a workshop about “The Art of Public Speaking“.
Public Speaking requires technique and preparation. This workshop will provide an easy workflow to follow to prepare your next presentation. It will help you overcome stage fright and will make everybody able to prepare an effective presentation and an outstanding stage performance.
